One of the interns from Sun Electronics was Jose, he was so helpful and super knowledgeable. He came and visited us a couple times to check on how things were going, he even made a diagram of our system for us. Thanks Jose hope to see you soon and good luck in Califronia!
For four years we have lived on a self built and retrofitted, mobile demonstration of sustainability. A former mountain transit bus transformed into a live/work space powered with waste vegetable oil, solar energy, composting, rainwater harvesting and space to implement an artistic practice, a homeschooling curriculum, and to rest and nourish tired bodies. This is a slow protest, realistic demonstration of off grid living and is aimed to be a catalyst to inspire social change.

March 23rd Ben's House Solar Panels Battery Box
They had to reinforce the luggage compartments on the bottom of the bus to hold the weight of our battery bank for the solar panels, they then welded frames and rust proofed them and attached rollers for a resin coated wooden box that would hold each individual battery.
Reinforced
Rust proofed
Ready for frames
Welding the frames
The panels mounted with a slight tilt to keep water from settling.
Let's Do Solar Panels March 19th 2010 Ben's House
After a long day with nothing being accomplished at Sun Electronics, Nando called up a guy he met trying to find a boat for a prop. The guy was in the Navy and is very knowledgeable about all things mechanical and rigging. Nando drove the bus over to his house on Miami River and began a long and tedious process of building a battery box and mounting the panels to the roof.

Lets Do Solar Panels March 18th 2010 Sun Elec Miami
We decided to use solar panels for our interior energy. We used Sun Electronics because they gave us sort of a deal. They had some interns that were very helpful. We befriended an intern who is still helping us with our solar system.
Early morning for the installation of the panels at the Wynwood warehouse of Sun Electronics Miami.
The panels in place, but with missing hardware.
Luciano being patient, playing on the WVO tank.
